Accessibility

Purple Patch Arts works hard to make its services accessible and usable for everyone. This website has features that allow users to find and consume the information they need in the way they find easiest.

This website has been built to comply with the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)  (AA Level) and has the following features:

General

The site is built using HTML5 and CSS3. This creates a fast loading website that is accessible to screen readers and is usable in most browsers and browsers available on non-Windows systems.

Text

All text is legible and readable with good size and contrast, and appears even if JavaScript is disabled.

Text in images is avoided where possible, but is always available in the ALT tags.

We use Plain English as much as possible.

Should you need to, you can change the text size on the site by clicking on the accessibility button on the right of the website. Alternatively, most browsers enable you to change the text size – you can see information for Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox here and instructions for Google Chrome are here. You can also change to a regular font and underline links by clicking on the accessibility button.

Images and Design

All images have ALT tags. Where appropriate, ALT tags provide screen reader users and those with images turned off with a description of the content of the picture. You can change the colour of the website to black and white, or inverse colours, by clicking on the accessibility button.

Browser Upgrades

We have tried to make our website compatible with all browsers. However, if you are using an older browser, our pages may not be presented in the best possible way. It may help you to download a newer version of a browser.

The following are available to download for free, which may help:

Mozilla Firefox    Google Chrome      Safari      Internet Explorer

Our Commitment

Whilst we work to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. We will be continually working to improve the accessibility and usability of the website, but if you have any suggestions or are experiencing any difficulties downloading files or accessing a particular page please contact info@purplepatcharts.org

I’ve learnt lots of new things, and I look forward to what we’re doing each week. I’m happy that I’m part of a group and am able to be myself at Purple Patch.

The best bit is seeing a sense of achievement in the participants as they learn, have fun and become more confident and independent.

If I didn’t have a bursary I wouldn’t be able to come, and I’m so glad that I can. It makes me happy to be part of the group.
