Megan Pickering – Outreach Coordinator

Pronouns – she/her
Favourite colour – Purple
Favourite place to go – Pigs in the Wood
Favourite TV show – Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Megan oversees all outreach and marketing at Purple Patch Arts, this involves her letting everyone know about all the amazing work we do, what we are up to, and how people can get involved. You might meet her when she’s running taster sessions, attending meetings, and tabling at events all across Yorkshire.

Before joining Purple Patch in 2022, Megan worked as part of University of the Arts London’s Academic Support team, and as a Studio Support Artist at Rocket Artists in Brighton.

Megan has an MA in Inclusive Art Practice from University of Brighton, a PgCert in Academic Practice in Art and Design and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts. As an Artist, Megan has exhibited nationally and internationally and has ran creative workshops at Tate Modern.

Like Purple Patch, Megan believes everyone should have opportunities to learn throughout their life and she is passionate about working in roles that support this happening, as well as continuing to learn herself.

Outside of work Megan loves to roller skate and she has been learning to play Roller Derby. She also gets great joy from collecting and making badges, watering her houseplants, and listening to podcasts.

William

I’ve learnt lots of new things, and I look forward to what we’re doing each week. I’m happy that I’m part of a group and am able to be myself at Purple Patch.

The best bit is seeing a sense of achievement in the participants as they learn, have fun and become more confident and independent.

If I didn’t have a bursary I wouldn’t be able to come, and I’m so glad that I can. It makes me happy to be part of the group.
